Overview



On February 24, 2011, all sangha members from all sects of Tibetan Buddhism in Taiwan together held its first meeting to discuss how to promote Buddhism.  It was a kind of perhaps first ever round-table discussion on Tibetan language by Khenpos, Tulkus and Geshes from all Tibetan Buddhist sects in Taiwan. The participants were Geshes and Tulkus from Gelug tradition like gser khri Rinpoche, Geshe Jamphel Choezin from Tibetan representative office, Geshe Choekyi Wangpo and others, Drigung ‘gar Namdol Rinpoche, Khenpo, Tulku, Lobpon from Kagyu tradition like Tulku Sonam Choephel and others, Khepos and Tulkus from Nyingma tradition like Palyul smug sangs Kuchen Rinpoche, zhe chen Khenpo Ugyen dri med, nyag rong mkhan trul Rinpoche and others and Lobpon from Sakya tradition like Lobpon Sonam Phuntsok and others on top of them the responsible Khenpos and Tulkus of the Research Association all of whom comprising of about twenty five Khenpos, Tulkus and Lobpons from all major four sects of Buddhism participated to exchange different views on how to fulfill the necessities of the society, try how to investigate the circumstances and strengthen the deteriorating condition of many Dharma centers and how to promote Buddhism according to the levels of the teaching. They discussed on nine topics and finally exchanged strong views mainly on how to stay harmoniously among the different traditions and specifically emphasize towards strict behaviors in accordance to the place and time. Similarly, they also discussed on periodical publications of introduction to Tibetan Buddhism and edition of exercise books. In particular, they exchanged views on how to resist the ongoing baseless misinterpretations towards Tibetan Buddhist secret Mantrayana and Tibetan lamas and monks by some few Taiwanese groups and individuals. All participants arrived on one mutual view to cooperate among one another stronger, emphasize on private right livelihood and right introduction to Dharma and others and it is an important time to give higher level of understanding on Tibetan Buddhism and show good example among Taiwanese people. This exchange of view program is not only on performance of rituals but they could come on a mutual meaningful topic.  On that night the responsible Khenpos and Tulkus purposely visited currently-Taiwan-visiting His Eminence Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche to inform him about the association especially the result of the meeting and requested for the future guidance which the Rinpoche assured with great appreciation.
